The Crisafulli Government is restoring safety where you live and delivering on a key election commitment following today's official opening of a new Police Beat at Burleigh Heads.

It's just one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is making Queensland safer, strengthening the frontline across the State, and putting more officers where they are needed most.

The $1.1 million facility on Park Avenue provides a high-visibility policing hub in one of the Gold Coast's busiest coastal communities.

Two full-time Community Beat Officers will staff the facility during business hours from Monday to Friday, with after-hours policing supported by general duties officers from Palm Beach Station.

The Crisafulli Government has delivered more than 50 new recruits to the Gold Coast frontline since the election.

In just 12 months, the police headcount has risen from 12,303 to 12,775, delivering a net gain of 472 officers – nearly triple the 174 officers the former Labor Government managed during its last four years.

Unplanned attrition has also dropped to 2.8 per cent – the lowest level in three years - as the Crisafulli Government continues to back our police and deliver the laws and resources they need to fight Labor's Youth Crime Crisis.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the opening of the new facility marked an important milestone in the Crisafulli Government's commitment to delivering the fresh start Queenslanders voted for.

"The Crisafulli Government is restoring safety where you live with a new permanent police presence in Burleigh Heads – one of the Gold Coast's busiest communities," Minister Purdie said.

"This is part of our plan to make the Gold Coast safer and turn the tide on Labor's Youth Crime Crisis which exploded during their decade of decline.

"This new facility is just another example of how we are giving police the laws and resources they need to do their jobs and restore safety where you live."

Member for Burleigh Hermann Vorster said the Crisafulli Government was restoring safety in Burleigh after Labor's decade of decline.

"Burleigh was badly let down by the former Labor Government which slashed local policing positions and had no plan for our emerging nighttime economy," Mr Vorster said.

"Delivering this police beat will help restore safety in Burleigh for the thousands of locals and visitors who cherish our relaxed coastal atmosphere.

"It means there will be a permanent police presence keeping our village and foreshore safe during the day and a base for our added police working after hours.

"The police beat complements our new late night support service and extra CCTV cameras which, together, will help tackle anti-social behaviour around the clock."

Deputy Commissioner Mark Kelly said the new police beat would help accommodate for the community's growing needs.

"Though always supported by other Gold Coast stations, the new police beat provides the Burleigh Heads community and its surroundings with a police response and presence in their own backyard," Deputy Commissioner Kelly said.

"We know the Gold Coast is a growing region and this facility will be a significant asset not only for the local community but also for our officers and staff.

"Building capabilities and equipping police with important resources will not only help them keep the community safe but help shape the next generation of policing."

Gold Coast District Officer Chief Superintendent Kylie Rigg said the new beat will strengthen local policing capabilities and invest in the community's security and safety.

"This new Police Beat strengthens our presence in Burleigh Heads and provides a dedicated base to support localised policing and community engagement," Chief Superintendent Rigg said.

"By investing in modern and state-of-the-art facilities and providing our officers with the tools and resourcing they need, it also boosts public confidence in our policing efforts.

"The increased policing footprint on the southern Gold Coast allows officers to interact directly with the community during the day and supports our operational policing activity across the area.

"Our priority is visibility, accessibility and keeping police out in the community where they can make the greatest difference, particularly during peak demand periods."
