- Changes to strengthen strata management service delivery in WA
- Certificate IV in Strata Community Management set as minimum qualification
- Two-year transition period for new qualification requirements
The Cook Labor Government has introduced new regulations to strengthen professional knowledge and experience within Western Australia's strata management industry.
The changes were developed following extensive consultation with industry and the community to improve service delivery across the State's increasingly complex and growing number of strata schemes.
The new model expands education qualifications, setting a Certificate IV in Strata Community Management as a minimum qualification.
The changes also introduce experience requirements, and support clearer career pathways for strata management professionals, among other reforms.
Strata managers will have a two-year transition period to meet the new qualification requirements.
The Lands Regulations (Community and Strata Titles) Amendment Regulations 2025 are now in effect and published on the Western Australian Legislation website. Further information is available on Landgate's website .
Comments attributed to Planning and Lands Minister John Carey:
"These reforms will enhance the capability of WA strata management professionals by raising qualification and experience standards and establishing clearer roles and responsibilities.
"Strata owners and residents will benefit from more consistent and accountable services as these changes take effect across the industry.
"This is another step in our government's commitment to modernising strata legislation and improving protections for people living in strata-managed communities.
"Further reforms to WA's strata management industry are also being considered as part of the current five-year review of the Strata Titles Act."
