Melton Suburban University Study Hub in Victoria, and Mandurah Universities Centre in Western Australia have officially opened their new facilities, while Northern Study Hub celebrated the launch of its second site in Epping, Victoria. The three sites are currently providing services to around 350 students, with additional capacity to support more.
The Suburban University Study Hubs program supports students living in outer metropolitan areas across the country to access tertiary education.
The hubs provide high-speed internet, computers, study spaces and trained staff to assist with administration, academic skills and wellbeing support.
Mandurah Universities Centre is accessible 24 hours a day. Student advisors are available between 9am-5pm to offer support.
Melton Suburban University Study Hub, located in the Melton Library, has hub advisors available Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm and is also open to students 10am-4pm on Saturday and 1-4pm on Sunday.
Northern Study Hub opened its Epping site following the official opening of their Broadmeadows facility in August. The hub is staffed between 9am-5pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 10am-7:30pm on Wednesday and Thursday and 10am-2pm on Saturday.
Northern Study Hub student Vi says the Epping site allows students like her the chance to study closer to home while saving money on travel costs.
"I love being able to continue my degree close to home, which means I can spend more time studying - and less time commuting in the peak traffic," Vi said.
"I usually cycle here, which has been great. It gets me moving, helps me clear my head before diving into assignments, and it saves me from parking costs - so that's a win all around for my physical and mental health, as well as financially.
"What really makes this place special is the people you meet here. I recall the staff greeting me at the door, and by the second visit, I was already known by name."
