Covering 3,900 hectares between Munster and Rockingham, the Western Trade Coast includes the Australian Marine Complex, Kwinana Industrial Area, Rockingham Industry Zone and Latitude 32.

The Kwinana and Rockingham areas combined have contributed $20 billion to the State's total gross output, supporting more than 13,000 jobs.

Chaired by State Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Roger Cook, the Global Advanced Industries Hub Ministerial Taskforce brings together representatives from across local and State Government, industry, the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union and local Aboriginal representatives.

Industry representatives on the taskforce include Civmec, Cockburn Cement and Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers.

With more than 30 years of experience as a senior executive in resources and chemical processing, Phil Thick has been selected as the taskforce's Industry Advisor. Mr Thick has extensive experience in Kwinana from his career with Alcoa, Coogee Chemicals and more recently Tianqi Lithium Australia.

The taskforce will oversee the development of an economic framework for the hub with a focus on industry development and attraction, land and infrastructure, and skills and workforce development, among other opportunities.

It will be supported by an Industry Reference Group which will include Alcoa, Austal, Avertas Energy, BGC, BHP Nickel West, Coogee Chemicals, Henderson Alliance, Kwinana Industries Council, Matrix Composites & Engineering and Woodside.

As stated by State Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Roger Cook:

"As Australia's industrial land gateway to global industry and trade with the economies of China and South East Asia, it is essential that we plan for the future of the Western Trade Coast.

"Perth's southern industrial precinct is already home to both established and emerging industries, including critical minerals, hydrogen and defence.

"Transforming the Western Trade Coast into a global advanced industries hub will support Western Australia's sustained economic growth and future diversification by unlocking new investment opportunities, boosting the value of our exports, strengthening our supply chains, and most importantly, creating local jobs."
