The Allan Labor Government has delivered a new $10.9 million operating theatre suite at Yarrawonga Hospital - with the new state-of-the-art facility soon opening for patients.
The new operating theatre suite is delivering a safer surgical environment for patients and staff, supporting our hardworking health professionals to deliver the very best care and helping to reduce surgical wait times for patients.
It also includes two new pre-operative treatment spaces, six recovery bays and dedicated areas for sterilising medical equipment and storage.
The project also delivered a new entrance and reception area, making the hospital more accessible and comfortable for patients and staff. Importantly, the upgrades have brought all surgical services at Yarrawonga Hospital under one roof.
Yarrawonga Health delivers a range of planned surgical procedures, including general surgery, orthopaedics, endoscopy and urology, with the upgraded facility allowing patients to access more timely, high-quality care close to home - reducing the need to travel long distances for surgery.
The new operating theatre suite was completed in July, and staff are now transitioning surgical care into the new space.
The upgrades were funded through the Regional Health Infrastructure Fund (RHIF)- the largest grant program of its kind in Victorian history.
Now worth a total of $790 million, RHIF delivers health infrastructure upgrades across regional Victoria - so that Victorians who don't live in major cities can still access care in the very best medical facilities.
Projects funded by the RHIF include theatre refurbishments, new waiting rooms, more hospital beds, accessible paths and ramps, additional consulting rooms, expansion projects and equipment upgrades.
