New Todd Reserve Playground Officially Opened: Bayside

The new Todd Reserve playground was officially opened by Bayside Mayor Dr Christina Curry on Friday 28 October 2022.

"It is wonderful to officially open this incredible new park," Mayor Dr Christina Curry said

"Council is implementing a program of renewal that is providing accessible, safe and interesting play spaces to our diverse community."

Old play equipment has been replaced to promote play for a range of age groups and abilities, complementary fitness equipment, nature play and functional park furniture.

The Todd Reserve upgrade has revitalised the community value of this park while adding more play and stay opportunities.

The upgrade includes new shade sails directly over the play equipment while additional trees have been planted to extend the tree canopy and provide natural shade.

Seating and picnic facilities provide a meeting place and comfort for those wanting to spend more time in the park.

The playspace also offers a destination stop off with bike racks, bins and a drinking fountain for those using the share pathway.

Todd Reserve is the only open space in the residential area bounded by the high traffic network of Wentworth Avenue, Southern Cross Drive and Botany Road but is connected to the wider community by a share path network.

The project was funded by Council using S7.11 developer contributions as well as a grant of $200,000 from the NSW Government under the Everyone Can Play (ECP) program which is aimed at funding accessible and more inclusive play spaces.
