This week, the Yale Teaching Fellowship welcomed its second cohort, who will embark on a course of graduate study and practical learning to prepare them to teach in the New Haven Public School system (NHPS).
At a reception on Aug. 19, Yale President Maurie McInnis handed out Yale IDs to each of the 18 fellows, welcoming them as full members of the Yale community, with access to its many resources.
"Teachers change lives," McInnis said. "Certainly I can think of teachers who helped me discover myself, my passions, helped me pursue them, helped me become who I am today. Every student in New Haven should have such a teacher.
"This fellowship is helping ensure that they will."
