The voices of young Western Australians will be further amplified with the addition of three new members to the Ministerial Youth Advisory Council (MYAC).
MYAC provides important advice to Youth Minister Hannah Beazley on issues that impact the lives of young people, including State Government policies and initiatives.
Amber Ugle-Hayward, Tremane Baxter-Edwards and Ryan Rawlinson have been appointed as the newest members of MYAC.
They join existing members Alessia Maio (Co-Chair), Joshua Peckover (Co-Chair), Amani Kariuki, Henry Bird, Joshoa Zilani, Lilijana Nicholls, Nandini Gera, Om Sharma and Takunda Bere.
MYAC members are aged between 15 to 25 years and are appointed for a two-year term.
The latest appointments add to the diversity of lived experience represented on MYAC, which includes young people from regional WA, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people with disability, from the LGBTIQA+ community, and with a range of employment and educational experiences.
MYAC has been successful in advocating for and on behalf of young people and played an integral role in the development of the WA Youth Action Plan 2024-2027 Koorlangka Bidi.
MYAC has also provided input into key State Government strategies and plans, including the State STEM skills strategy, Stronger Together: WA's Plan for Gender Equality and All Paths Lead to a Home: Western Australia's 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-2030.
