Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, and Ms Sabra Amari Murillo Centeno, Resident Representative at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Nicaragua to the IAEA, signed Nicaragua's Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2026 -2031 on 22 September 2026.
A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.
Nicaragua has been an IAEA Member State since 1957. Its 2026 -2031 CPF identifies 5 priority areas:
- Nuclear and radiation safety and nuclear security
- Food and agriculture
- Human health
- Water and the environment
- Energy and industry
