Nor'easters take championship hockey win, ready for NCAA tournament

Fresh off their 2022 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship win on Saturday, March 5, the University of New England Nor'easters men's ice hockey team will host the first round of the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship this Saturday, March 12.

The Nor'easters will face off against the Plymouth State University (PSU) Panthers on Saturday, one week after besting the Endicott College Gulls 3-2 in overtime in front of a sold-out crowd at the Harold Alfond Forum in Biddeford. The latter game secured UNE its second CCC crown after its 2019 win over Salve Regina University.

UNE will enter the NCAA Tournament on an 11-game win streak. The Nor'easters have twice been to the tournament, most recently advancing to the national quarterfinals in 2019, shortly after claiming their first CCC Championship crown.

The winner between UNE and the Panthers will advance to the quarterfinals and face Utica University at the Utica Memorial Auditorium, a venue with a seating capacity of 3,850.
