EPA Victoria continues to act against illegal waste dumping wherever it's found with the latest case costing a Caroline Springs rendering company $10,176 in fines.
Perfect Touch Rendering Vic Pty Ltd thought they'd save a few dollars by dumping construction waste on a vacant plot of land at a development site, but they hadn't counted on the owner of that land installing CCTV specially to catch dumpers.
A driver and passenger were captured on CCTV illegally dumping 10 cubic metres of industrial waste from a trailer onto the vacant private block within the new housing estate at Fraser Rise.
"The CCTV clearly showed the offending vehicle which we were able to trace back to Perfect Touch, who were not so perfect in this case," said EPA West Metropolitan Regional Manager Julia Gaitan.
"They've cleaned up the mess they left and have the cost of the fine on top, which should be a warning to other businesses that the waste they create has to be disposed of properly or they face a costly alternative."
The Victorian Government has established the multi-agency Illegal Waste Dumping Taskforce spearheaded by EPA to combat the growing issue of illegal waste dumping in our public spaces.
