NSW Latest New Bankstown Hospital One Step Closer

New and expanded healthcare services for the fast-growing and diverse Bankstown community are one step closer, with the engagement of Hindmarsh Construction Australia to deliver the initial works to prepare the site for the new hospital.

Located in the heart of Bankstown's CBD, the new $2 billion Bankstown Hospital is the largest single capital works investment in a public hospital in the state's history.

Hindmarsh Construction Australia has been engaged following a competitive tender process. The first stage of construction includes demolition and site remediation and is expected to be completed in 2027.

The new hospital will deliver new and enhanced health services and facilities within a new multi-storey building, which will house acute health services including emergency, operating theatres and inpatient wards.

The final scope for the new hospital will be finalised as planning progresses, and is expected to include:

  • emergency department
  • operating theatres
  • intensive care unit
  • surgical and medical services
  • women and children's health services including maternity
  • mental health inpatient services
  • ambulatory care
  • cancer services
  • aged care health services
  • multi-storey car park and on-ground parking.

Community information sessions are being held throughout 2026 to ensure the community is updated about the $2 billion project and upcoming works.
