The NSW Government is continuing its commitment to engaging the local community in planning the future of the David Berry Hospital, calling on locals to have their say in upcoming focus groups that will shape the site's future.
In February, the NSW Government released the David Berry Hospital Community Engagement Report, which outlines the key findings from nearly 1,200 submissions received during the consultation period.
As part of the next stage of engagement, the NSW Government commissioned an independent consultant to facilitate a series of focus groups in July and August 2025.
The focus groups provide an opportunity for local participants to share their ideas, hear from others, and contribute directly to shaping the site's future.
Community members interested in participating are invited to register their interest online by completing The Future of David Berry Hospital: Engagement Participation
Further to the focus groups, community pop-up events will be held so residents can speak directly with the project team to share their thoughts and ideas. Pop-up events will be held on 2 July 2025 at:
- Broughton Court, Berry, from 10am to 12pm
- David Berry Hospital from 3pm to 4:15pm
David Berry Hospital has been part of the community for over a century. As healthcare services move to the modern Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital in 2026, it is important that the future use of the David Berry Hospital site aligns with the values and needs of the local community.
Following a community survey conducted in late 2024, local residents and stakeholders provided valuable input on the future of the David Berry Hospital site, with 87 per cent of respondents indicating a preference for the continuation of health and wellness services at the site.
