Council had the pleasure of hosting the NSW Premier Chris Minns and Minister Jihad Dib MP in Cabonne on Tuesday, 23 January 2024.

Chris Minns and Jihad Dib MP joined members of the Eugowra Community Children's Centre to officially open the temporary site.
This was a long-awaited visit to our flood-impacted towns from the Premier.

It is positive that, even though it is more than 12-months on from the floods, the NSW Government remains committed to supporting the recovery of our Cabonne communities.

The Premier also met with some business owners in Molong, as well as with members of the Eugowra Flood Advisory Committee to hear about recovery to date, as well as needs moving forward.

Key issues raised with the Premier were:

Need to fast-track the HOUSING package to get our community members out of Pods and back into their homes as quickly as possible.

Fast-tracking ROAD payments to enable Council to get in and fix the many, many roads across Cabonne that need repairs!

‍ Funding to help restore COMMUNITY and SPORTING assets - including for a permanent preschool in Eugowra.

☕ Support for SMALL BUSINESS recovering from floods, through a grant program that would enable them to invest in projects that assist in better preparing for future climate events.

Council wants to acknowledge Philip Donato for his work in getting the Premier to Cabonne. A big thank you also to Deputy Premier Prue Car MP for her support in getting the temporary preschool progressing.
