The Namoi River at Wee Waa continues to rise and the flooding risk in the town will increase throughout today. The NSW SES has prepositioned teams and assets in Wee Waa in preparation.
There are 20 Emergency Warnings in place advising people to evacuate from communities impacted by flooding in the north west of the state, including on the Namoi River at Narrabri and Gunnedah.
At Narrabri, the river peaked at 7.1metres overnight, and is now slowing dropping but flooding remains a risk.
Floodwaters also continue to recede at Gunnedah but people are still being urged to avoid some areas.
Two helicopters are in Narrabri for resupply and rescue operations as flooding continues to rise in communities throughout the northwest of the state. They're supported by High Clearance Vehicles in Gunnedah and Narrabri, and flood rescue teams in high-risk locations.
NSW SES crews responded to one flood rescue overnight, for a vehicle stuck in floodwaters. Flood rescue teams attended and confirmed no one was inside the vehicle.
While warnings have been downgraded across the Hunter, flooding continues to impact some communities. High Clearance Vehicles are in Maitland and Cessnock to resupply about 350 properties isolated by floodwaters.
As the response continues, NSW SES is working closely with local councils, NSW Police, the Rural Fire Service, Fire and Rescue NSW and Disaster Welfare teams to provide support to affected communities. Evacuation centres remain available for residents who need them.
