NSW Touch junior state Cup takes centre stage in Dubbo

For the next three days more than 7000 people will converge on Dubbo for the NSW Touch Junior State Cup Northern Conference.

Dubbo Regional Council (DRC) welcomes the event, which is being held in Dubbo for the first time and will see a hive of activity at the Lady Cutler precinct.

"We are really excited to welcome all the participants and their families to Dubbo and have the opportunity to showcase our beautiful region and the impeccable sporting facilities we have on offer," Mayor of Dubbo Regional Council Mathew Dickerson said.

This event is estimated to inject $4 million into the local economy through a wide range of businesses from accommodation providers, hospitality venues, retail outlets and tourism attractions.

"The NSW Touch Junior State Cup Northern Conference is the biggest junior multi-day event Dubbo has ever hosted and is such a positive boost for our local economy in what is normally a low peak visitation period," Clr Dickerson said.

The event brings together teams from across the state including Sydney Metropolitan, Western NSW, Northern NSW, Central Coast, Mid North Coast and the North Coast of NSW.

"Junior State Cup is one of NSW Touch's premiere events each year and not only attracts thousands of people to attend but also provides junior players with the opportunity to compete at a higher representative level against teams from across the state," NSW Touch General Manager Dean Russell said.

"This year 187 teams will compete in the northern conference of NSW Touch Junior State Cup which is being held for the first time in the western region of NSW."

"The collaboration for this event between NSW Touch, Dubbo Regional Council and Dubbo Touch Association has been very positive. We really appreciate all the work that has been happening behind the scenes to ensure the event runs smoothly over the next three days."

NSW Touch Junior State Cup is free and the general public are welcome to visit the Lady Cutler Precinct to watch any of the games with the Grand Finals to be played on Sunday afternoon. The victorious teams from this event will secure a spot in the Junior State Cup Final Series in March 2023.

The NSW Touch State Cup Northern Conference is being sponsored by Dubbo Regional Council and was secured under Council's Event Attraction Program.
