Lithgow's new purpose-built fire station is well underway with the building now taking shape as structural frames were erected on site this week.
Nationals Member for Bathurst Paul Toole has welcomed significant progress on the construction of the new Lithgow Fire Station and said it was exciting to see the long-awaited project move from planning to construction.
"It's fantastic to see this project rising out of the ground," Mr Toole said.
"With the structural frames now in place, the community can really see the scale of what will become one of the largest Fire and Rescue NSW stations in the state."
The purpose-built facility will replace the existing Lithgow and Lithgow West Fire and Rescue NSW stations, bringing both crews together under one roof in a contemporary station designed to support emergency responses in the Lithgow region and beyond well into the future.
The new station will feature five engine bays, modern training facilities, upgraded staff amenities, dedicated clean and dirty zones to improve firefighter safety and accommodate up to 35 firefighters.
Mr Toole said the project funded by the former NSW Coalition Government would deliver significant benefits for both firefighters and the wider community.
"Our firefighters deserve facilities that match the outstanding work they do every day to keep our communities safe," he said.
"This new station will provide modern equipment, improved training opportunities and purpose-built spaces that strengthen emergency response capabilities across Lithgow and the surrounding region."
Construction is progressing well and is expected to be completed in early 2027.
