The Northern Territory is today reporting the deaths of three people with COVID-19.
A male in his 80s from Greater Darwin, who had underlying health conditions, passed away at Royal Darwin Hospital.
A female in her 80s from Greater Darwin, who had underlying health conditions, passed away at Royal Darwin Hospital.
A male in his 80s from Greater Darwin, who had underlying health conditions, passed away at Palmerston Regional Hospital.
The total number of COVID-19 related deaths recorded in the NT since the start of the pandemic is 43.
There were 564 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in the NT in the 24 hours to 8pm on 27 April 2022. Of these, 468 were positive cases from a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).
There were 356 cases recorded in the Top End region, 92 in Central Australia, 12 in East Arnhem, 28 in the Big Rivers region, 10 in the Barkly region and 66 are under investigation.
There are currently 50 patients in hospital. There are four patients requiring oxygen and two patients in ICU.
The number of active cases in the NT is 3,005.
Public health measures
To slow the spread of COVID-19 in our community and reduce the rate of transmission, the following public health measures are in place across the NT:
Masks must be worn in high-risk settings including hospitals, GP clinics, remote health clinics, renal facilities, aged care facilities, family violence shelters, sobering up shelters, homeless shelters, corrections facilities and disability facilities. Disability support workers need to wear a mask when undertaking home-services.Masks must also be worn in airports and on flights, in line with federal requirements.It is highly recommended that all people aged 12 years and over wear a mask when physical distancing cannot be applied.
COVID-19 vaccination
It's important all Territorians aged five years and over stay up-to-date with their COVID-19 vaccinations. Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 significantly reduces the risk of serious illness and hospitalisation.
The COVID-19 vaccine is available in the NT at participating GP clinics, pharmacies, respiratory clinics, Aboriginal health clinics and NT Health Vaccination Centres.

COVID-19 testing
Everyone should get tested for COVID-19 if showing symptoms. A number of NT Rapid Antigen Testing and Distribution Points here have been established.
To reduce the risk of COVID-19 spreading in our communities, it is important for everyone to follow all health directions:
* If you have symptoms, stay away from others and get tested for COVID-19
* Wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly
* Do not go to work if you feel sick
* Maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres where possible.
