NZ police arrest man after Christchurch assault

A man has been arrested following an assault in central Christchurch yesterday.

The assault occurred around 3pm near the Avon River between Oxford Terrace and Cambridge Terrace. Police were called to the incident by multiple witnesses.

One person was taken to hospital with facial injuries. A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with injuring with intent. He will appear in Christchurch District Court today.

No one else is sought in relation to the assault and Police would like to thank the public for their assistance during the incident.
