The U.S. Mission to the Organization of American States (OAS), in collaboration with the OAS, will host, on Friday, September 18, at 13:30 EDT (17:30 GMT), a special concert by The U.S. Army Blues in the Hall of the Americas.
The event is being organized under the theme "Freedom in Concert: America at 250 and Democracy in the Americas." The program will feature Latin and American jazz and big-band classics, highlighting music's power to strengthen cultural ties and bring the peoples of the Hemisphere together. The concert is part of the Freedom 250 commemorations at the OAS and activities marking the 25th anniversary of the Inter-American Democratic Charter, adopted on September 11, 2001. In June 2026, the OAS General Assembly adopted AG/RES. 3058 (LVI-O/26), declaring September 2026 the "Month of Commemorative Activities for the Twenty-Fifth Anniversary of the Inter-American Democratic Charter" and encouraging member states and permanent observers to organize or support commemorative activities.
The U.S. Army Blues, part of The United States Army Band "Pershing's Own," is the Army's premier jazz ensemble. Its musicians perform public concerts and educational programs while preserving and sharing jazz, a distinctly American art form with deep connections throughout the Americas.
