Officer charged - Central Metropolitan Region 11 December

A police officer has been charged following an investigation into the supply of cocaine in Sydney's Inner West.

In October 2022, a referral was made to the Professional Standards Command as part of an investigation into the supply of cocaine.

Following inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a unit in Newtown, about 7.40pm yesterday (Saturday 10 December 2022), where a 42-year-old man was arrested.

During a search of the unit, police seized cocaine and other items relevant to the investigation.

The man – a sergeant attached to a command in the Central Metropolitan Region – was taken to Campsie Police Station and charged with supply prohibited drug.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear before Bankstown Local Court on Thursday 22 December 2022.

The officer is not currently in the workplace and his employment status is under review.
