Detectives are investigating after a police officer was struck by a stolen car at South Mackay this morning, 24 May.
Police received information around 10am that a stolen white Rav4 was at an address on Paradise Street.
When police arrived on the scene, the male driver of the Rav4 allegedly reversed out of the driveway, striking two police vehicles.
A male constable, who had exited the police vehicle in an attempt to arrest the driver, was struck by the Rav4 before the driver allegedly fled the scene in the vehicle.
The officer received an injury to his foot and was transported to hospital.
After leaving Paradise Street, the Rav4 was sighted travelling around the Paget and Oorlea areas before crashing on the Mackay Ring Road at 10.20am.
The driver and sole occupant fled on foot and has not yet been located by police.
The Rav4 had been reported stolen from a home on Lindeman Avenue in the Townsville suburb of Cranbrook at approximately 2.30am on 24 May.
A 20-year-old woman was arrested at the Paradise Street scene and has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
Her bail has been refused, and she is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on tomorrow, 25 May.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Anyone who was travelling in the South Mackay area around the time of the incident and may have dashcam footage of the Rav4 is urged to contact police.
