Old Bar Road's makeover to continue

MidCoast Council

MidCoast Council contractors will soon commence the next stage of improvement works on Old Bar Road, providing a safer and smoother driving experience for this important connector route.

The planned roadworks will enhance the pavement condition for 1.7km of road from Redbank Cemetery to Metz Road and include dedicated right turn lanes into Redbank and Half Chain Roads. With design complete and contractors soon to be selected, work is due to start in the first quarter of 2022.

These roadworks are part of Council's multi-stage plan to improve Old Bar Road. Other sections recently completed include Warwiba Road to Berady Lane, the intersection of Saltwater Road, and the section between the Old Bar Motorcycle Club and Redbank Cemetery. "Works have provided a smoother and safer road and a long term service life," said Manager Projects and Engineering, Rhett Pattison.
