Old, tired Liberals drop ball on economy

Tasmanian Labor

The latest financial update from the ABS is further proof this decade-old Liberal Government has lost its way and dropped the ball on the economy.

ABS State Final Demand figures show Tasmania has by far the weakest annual growth in the nation, at 1.1 per cent, one third of the 3.3 per cent national average.

The next lowest state or territory is Queensland, which despite lagging behind the rest of the nation, still experienced more than double the growth of Tasmania.

Private investment is down, which is a stark reflection of the impact the Liberals' broken promise to exit the National Electricity Market has had on Tasmania's businesses.

Tasmania is facing significant economic headwinds, rising interest rates, record deficits and record debt heading past five billion dollars.

Thanks to Tasmania's busted budget and this Government's mismanagement of the economy, Michael Ferguson hasn't got any levers to pull to make things better.
