OMCG member charged with assault

Detectives from Taskforce Maxima have charged a member of the Comanchero Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) following an assault at the Gold Coast University Hospital yesterday morning.

On Monday at approximately 2.30am, a 41-year-old man allegedly walked up to a 45-year-old man in the emergency waiting room and violently assaulted him. The men were not known to each other.

The 41-year-old then allegedly left the hospital prior to police arriving. It will then be alleged the man attended a residence in Maudsland and removed his electronic monitoring device just before 8am.

Police attended the residence and following extensive investigations the man was located at 1.30pm in Caloundra where he was taken into custody without incident.

The 41-year-old man was charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, breach of bail, wilful damage, unlicenced driving and fail to provide a specimen of breath.

He was refused police bail and will appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today.
