One Council One LEP: Bayside

The new Bayside Local Environmental Plan (LEP) that came into effect on Friday 27 August 2021 means all Council planning information is now contained in once comprehensive document.

"This is great news for Bayside," said Mayor Joe Awada.

"We are the first Council in NSW under the NSW Department of Planning, Industry and Environment's Accelerated LEPs Program to have their LEP finalised. I would like to thank and congratulate Council staff involved in achieving this significant milestone."

This Bayside LEP now provides one single source for planning information, including mapping, for zoning, heritage, building height and floor space ratios.

Having a single LEP standardised across Bayside in the most current format makes it easier for anyone wanting to carry out any kind of development in Bayside.

This comprehensive Bayside LEP is also the first one to apply to the entire Bayside LGA and effectively replaces the following three Local Environmental Plans:

  • Botany LEP 1995
  • Botany Bay LEP 2013
  • Rockdale LEP 2011

"Having a single, contemporary LEP in place in Bayside sets a great foundation for future planning and makes it easier for everyone to find and understand our planning controls," the Mayor said.
