Online bookings for COVID-19 vaccinations launch this week

  • Online booking option for COVID-19 vaccination appointments to start from May 25
  • Younger adults with underlying medical conditions, as part of Phase 1B, will be able to get the vaccine through State-run clinics
  • Community clinics to roll out Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in coming weeks
  • New vaccination dashboard to track WA's vaccination progress will go live today
  • The new online COVID-19 vaccination booking system will be open for appointments on Tuesday (May 25).

The VaccinateWA booking system, which can be accessed at Roll up for WA, provides an online process for booking and confirming vaccination appointments at community and hospital-based vaccination clinics around the State.

So far, more than 361,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered in Western Australia, with the number of first doses being above the national average based on the proportion of the population.

When booking online, search results will display relevant clinics and dates based on the information entered by the user, along with the recommended vaccine and timing between doses. Only eligible Western Australians will be able to access the system - check your eligibility here.

The launch of online bookings this week coincides with a new cohort of eligible people - including younger adults with specified underlying medical conditions and people with disability, as part of the Phase 1B cohort, who will now have increased opportunities to be vaccinated through WA's State-run clinics.

Previously this cohort was eligible to be vaccinated through the Commonwealth's arrangements but due to limited supply of Pfizer, opportunities for people in this category to get vaccinated were fewer.

In addition, selected clinics - starting with Claremont Showgrounds in early June - will soon start providing the Pfizer vaccine to eligible people aged under 50 on Thursdays to Sundays each week, strictly by bookings only via 13 COVID (13 26843) or via the online booking system at Roll up for WA.

The Claremont Showgrounds clinic will administer the AstraZeneca vaccine through pre-booked appointments on Mondays to Wednesdays from May 31.

Vaccination appointments are still available at GP and GP Respiratory Clinics.

A new vaccination dashboard - providing visibility on WA's vaccination rollout - will go live today (May 23), and is updated every 24 hours. The vaccination dashboard is available at: https://www.wa.gov.au/COVID19vaccinedashboard.

As stated by Premier Mark McGowan:

"Vaccination is so vital as part of our defence against COVID-19. It's so important to help us get through this pandemic.

"Recent data has shown that here in WA, we are above the national average when it comes to the public getting their first COVID vaccine shots.

"That's so encouraging, and I want it to continue.

"Getting your COVID vaccine when you're eligible is one of the best things you can do to keep your fellow Western Australians safe.

"I want to thank everyone who has done their bit for the community and rolled up for WA to get vaccinated.

"The new online tools will help people eligible to book in for their vaccination and understand how WA is progressing with its vaccination program.

"My priority is to ensure we have as many people vaccinated as possible which is why we need more people who are already eligible to roll up for WA and get the COVID-19 vaccine.

"Making the vaccine available for more of the Phase 1B cohort through State-run clinics will assist in getting the vaccination rate up."

As stated by Health Minister Roger Cook:

"I welcome this next important step in our State's vaccination rollout.

"Making bookings accessible online will help ensure as many Western Australians as possible are vaccinated as soon as doses become available.

"From this week, more than 300,000 Western Australians with chronic conditions or disability will also be able to receive a COVID-19 vaccination through our State-run clinics.

"If you are eligible I urge you to go to the Roll up for WA website, click on the VaccinateWA link and book your vaccination."
