The Canadian Coast Guard's Inshore Rescue Boat stations in Ontario are winding down their seasonal maritime search and rescue service, and will close on the following dates:
- Britt (Georgian Bay) - September 9
- MacTier (Georgian Bay) - September 9
- Hill Island (St. Lawrence River) - September 9
- Corunna (St. Clair River) - September 9
- Long Point (Lake Erie) - September 9
The following stations will remain open until later in the year on weekends:
- Mitchell's Bay (Lake St. Clair) : will remain open on weekends, from Friday at 2:00 pm until Sunday at 6:00 pm, and will close on October 12th
The Inshore Rescue Boat program employs and trains post-secondary students across Canada to provide additional maritime search and rescue services during the busy summer season.
The Canadian Coast Guard's Search and Rescue stations across Ontario will remain in service until December. Highly trained Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary volunteers and their vessels also remain available to help boaters in distress.
