The Allan Labor Government is supporting cheaper heating and cooling for homes, thanks to a new Ballarat factory capable of producing affordable, energy efficient windows to help bring houses up to 7-star energy rating or better.
Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes today visited JG King Homes and Project Windows and Doors' new Wendouree factory to mark its completion. The factory has already created 15 new full-time jobs and has driven more than $6 million in capital investment into Ballarat.
The state-of-the-art facility brings the two companies - which operate as part of the JG King Building Group - under one roof to maximise production efficiencies and reduce costs - while laying the groundwork for further growth.
Using solar power and cutting-edge manufacturing software, the facility features an automated assembly line that's capable of mass-producing energy efficient doors and windows for residential builds.
These double-glazed doors and windows will adhere to changes established in the 2022 National Construction Code, helping people to build energy smart homes that are more comfortable to live in, cost less to heat and cool, and help to reduce residential greenhouse gas emissions.
The support for JG King Homes and Project Windows and Doors forms part of a record investment of $47 billion in just over a decade in projects that are making regional cities and towns even better places to live, work, stay, experience, invest and study.
It's part of an ongoing commitment to ensure that regional Victoria is open for business. For more information, go to rdv.vic.gov.au.
