Orange Grove hit and run

Traffic Enforcement Group (TEG) officers are investigating a hit and run crash in Orange Grove this morning (7 October 2020), in which a pedestrian was injured.

Around 5.45am, a white Toyota Corolla station wagon was rear-ended by a vehicle, possibly a dark blue/green hatchback, as they were both travelling south on Tonkin Highway. The Toyota driver pulled over onto the median strip so he could exchange details with the driver of the other vehicle who had stopped in the emergency lane.

As the driver of the Toyota approached the other vehicle, the driver accelerated directly at the victim who had to jump onto the bonnet of the moving car to avoid being run over. He managed to cling to the bonnet for a time as the driver kept swerving in an attempt to dislodge him.

The victim, a man in his 40s, fell off the bonnet onto the road but luckily avoided approaching traffic. He was conveyed by ambulance to Armadale Hospital where he was treated for abrasions and severe bruising.

TEG officers would like to speak to anyone who saw the crash, or the two vehicles involved travelling in the area prior to the crash.

Anyone with information or dash-cam vision relating to this crash is ask to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
