OSCE Aids Tajikistan-Serbia Law Enforcement Study Visit

From 4 to 8 May 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) supported the visit of four representatives of Tajikistan Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) to the Republic of Serbia to get familiarized with the work of their Serbian counterparts. The Tajikistan MIA delegation consisted of four representatives (all men) from the Office of the National Co-ordinator for Police Reform, MIA Training Centre and MIA Scientific and Research Centre

On the first day, the OSCE Mission to Serbia shared insights into its co-operation with the Serbian Ministry of Interior on issues related to human rights, social protection, and preventing human trafficking and economic crime, highlighting the importance of continued co-operation. The Tajikistan delegation learned about the organization and key activities of the Police Department during their visit to the Serbian Ministry of Interior, which facilitated discussions on bilateral co-operation and experience sharing in police work. They particularly focused on joint efforts in combating corruption, terrorism, and extremism, as well as joint training exercises.

The Police Specialized Training Department of Serbia outlined their training framework, which includes basic, specialized, and managerial levels. On the final day, the Tajikistan delegation toured the Makiš Training Centre, where they were introduced to educational programs and facilities, further enhancing their understanding of effective training methodologies.

The Tajikistan delegation expressed its gratitude to their Serbian colleagues for the warm welcome and the high-level organization of the visit, emphasizing the importance of continued professional exchange and co-operation between the law enforcement institutions of the two countries.
