OSCE Trains Tajik Health Workers on Anti-Trafficking

OSCE

From 1 to 3 July 2026, the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe conducted a three-day training workshop in Dushanbe for 21 representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, including 14 women and 7 men. Participants included staff of polyclinics, maternity hospitals and health departments.

The workshop focused on best practices and standards for identifying victims of trafficking in human beings, referring them to relevant services, and providing support and rehabilitation, including in cases involving child trafficking. It also familiarized participants with indicators of trafficking in human beings, ethical principles for healthcare workers assisting survivors, case management techniques, and response procedures for trafficking cases.

Through a combination of practical and discussion-based sessions, the workshop also strengthened the capacity of healthcare specialists to identify possible cases of trafficking in human beings, provide direct support to identified victims, and refer them to partner institutions and organizations for further rehabilitation and reintegration.

Participants commended the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe for the training initiative and highlighted the importance of organizing similar educational activities for healthcare workers in the future.

This activity is part of the OSCE's support for the Government of Tajikistan in implementing its commitments to prevent and combat all forms of trafficking in human beings.
