Free community festival to celebrate 50 years of UOW with live music, food and family fun
Pacific Avenue frontman Harry O'Brien will headline the live music lineup at the University of Wollongong's 50th birthday celebration on Saturday 15 November, a free community party to mark the University's milestone anniversary.
The family-friendly festival is UOW's way of thanking the Illawarra for its support over the past five decades, with live music, food, and entertainment for all ages across the Wollongong campus lawns.
On the Duck Pond Lawn, the IMB Play Zone will keep kids busy with activities including laser tag, a reptile zoo, inflatable obstacle course and presentations and hands-on experiences from Science Space and Early Start Discovery Space.
The Sports Zone on the Champagne Lawn will feature games including putt putt golf and soccer darts, and a heart-stopping giant slide.
The Beats and Eats precinct on Jugglers Lawn and at the UniBar will feature live music, food and drink stalls, and roving street performers – and it's where Harry O'Brien will take the stage.
With his soulful voice and laid-back coastal energy, Harry brings the spirit of Pacific Avenue's sun-soaked sound to the stage – the perfect soundtrack for UOW's 50th birthday. Pacific Avenue was formed in Gerringong and is known for a sun-soaked sound and energetic live shows that have seen it grow from local favourites to national festival regulars.
Visitors can also browse market stalls along the Library walkways and take a campus tour.
