Parent body launches reconciliation journey

The ACT Council of Parents and Citizens Associations is proud to announce that, tomorrow night, Yvette Berry MLA, ACT Minister for Education will launch our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan.

"The Plan is a clear commitment to recognise and value the work, teachings and spiritual connection with the land of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples," said Council President, Kirsty McGovern-Hooley.

"We are embarking on a journey to become more culturally aware, curious and respectful, and to listen to and learn from our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander parents and communities."

"We hope that our members - public school parent associations - will walk with us on this journey and make our P&Cs, and our schools, more welcoming and understanding places," said Ms McGovern-Hooley.

"We are proud to be the first peak body for school parents in Australia to make such an important commitment."

Please join us for this event as we publicly make this commitment, hear from school leaders from several ACT public schools about their innovative cultural integrity initiatives, and enjoy the flavours of bush foods.
