Global biotech giant CSL has announced it will relocate its headquarters to the heart of Parkville's biomedical precinct in 2024. This move will align CSL more closely with the world-class research facilities, hospitals and universities in Parkville.
As part of the move 800 workers will relocate from existing campuses on Poplar Road, Parkville – near Royal Park – and Docklands, creating hundreds of jobs during construction and boosting the $16.5 billion contribution the biomedical sector already contributes to the Victorian economy each
year.
Parkville is one of the world's leading biomedical precincts delivering outstanding patient care, cutting edge research and discoveries and training to some of the country's brightest minds.
The Victorian Government also announced a new partnership with University of Melbourne to examine the world's best practice precinct innovation models including those in Boston, Tel Aviv and Toronto. This will build on the government's strategic plan for the precinct released in 2018.
Parkville is one of Victoria's five declared Priority Precincts – key urban areas which will focus on delivering jobs, development and improved liveability to Melbourne's communities as the city grows to Australia's largest by 2050.
Other declared priority precincts include Arden, Fisherman's Bend, Sunshine and the Richmond to Docklands corridor.
