The Crisafulli Government is delivering a new Police-Citizens Youth Club for the northern Gold Coast, with the project now fully funded and detailed design work progressing through relevant approvals.
The $30 million facility is being jointly funded by the Crisafulli Government and the City of Gold Coast, with both investing $15 million for the long-awaited infrastructure that the community has called for more than a decade, but the former Labor Government failed to deliver.
The new state-of-the-art facility on Pimpama Jacobs Well Road, will be delivered before the end of 2028, providing tailored programs and services for young Queenslanders that encourage active lifestyles, youth development, crime prevention and community engagement.
It will include a gym and fitness facilities, an external half basketball court, a kitchenette, two multipurpose spaces and recreational areas.
Sport and recreation opportunities for the community will also be expanded with a large gymnastics hall, which will offer PCYC's Playtime and Little n Active programs, introducing pre-school children to sport while providing confidence, learning and connection.
Premier David Crisafulli said the new facility was delivering for the northern Gold Coast.
"This is a critical investment in the health, safety and wellbeing of young Queenslanders," Premier Crisafulli said.
"PCYC's offer so much to families and the wider community, whether it's getting young kids into sport, promoting leadership or encouraging them to strive for a brighter future.
"They also provide crucial early intervention support, to stop kids from falling off the right path and becoming trapped in a life of crime."
Member for Coomera Michael Crandon said the new facility was a fantastic outcome for the northern Gold Coast, perfectly located to provide easy access by public transport.
"Our community has been calling for this new PCYC facility for more than a decade, so it's great that the Crisafulli Government can work with the City of Gold Coast to make the Pimpama PCYC a reality," Mr Crandon said.
"We know that with this infrastructure in place, we can encourage the more than 30,000 young people in our fast growing community to be healthy and active, while also offering intervention and guidance to those who are at risk of going down the wrong path in life."
City of Gold Coast Acting Mayor Mark Hammel said the new PCYC was needed by the local community.
"The northern Gold Coast remains one of Australia's fastest growing corridors and this is another example of the City investing in our future," Acting Mayor Hammel said.
"The youth of today are tomorrow's leaders and we know the positive impacts PCYCs have in communities across Australia. This is a project we are proud to be part of."
PCYC Queensland CEO Phil Schultz said the organisation was extremely grateful from the support from the Queensland Government and the City of Gold Coast.
"Their coming together for this investment into a new PCYC in Pimpama means that we can deliver vital youth programs focusing on prevention, intervention and diversion, alongside first-class sport and recreation facilities to a rapidly growing community," Mr Schultz said.
