Pedestrian crossings installation works to begin: Torquay Town Centre

alert

As part of Council's Connecting Torquay Town Centre strategy, three new pedestrian crossings will be installed in Torquay Town Centre at the following locations:

* Bristol Road (near the corner of Walker Street)

* Pearl Street (Boston Road end)

* Gilbert Street (where the asphalt and brick pavers intersect)

The project is part of the Torquay Town Centre Urban Design Framework, which was developed in 2017 and aims to create clear and effective connections throughout the Torquay Town Centre. Other works undertaken as part of the Connecting Torquay Town Centre project include the formalised car parking on Zeally Bay Road and Fischer Street, bike stations and wayfinding signage.

Works will commence Monday, August 2 and take three weeks to complete (one week at each location). The works will be under the control of traffic management with lane and road closures in place as required. Council asks that people plan ahead and make necessary arrangements during the works.

Victorian Government funding from Regional Development Victoria has been received as part of this project.

If members of the public have any questions about these works, they are encouraged to Lodge a Request.
