Bayside Council is investigating the feasibility of constructing a shared pedestrian and bicycle path underneath the Wolli Creek bridge to connect Discovery Point Park and Cahill Park.
At the moment, there is no Council funding for the project and a grant of $2 million would be needed to undertake the studies needed to progress the project to land acquisition and construction. The estimated cost of building the share pedestrian and bicycle path is estimated to be $10 million.
A report will be prepared for Council and presented later this year. It will look at enhanced safety benefits, better connectivity between key recreational spaces, local business support due to increased foot and bicycle traffic, alignment with the Bayside Bike Plan and the Wolli Creek Traffic and Transport Study, feedback from local residents, cycling groups and Transport for NSW, potential funding sources and construction timelines.
