Pedestrian dies, another woman injured after crash - Canley Vale

A woman has died and a second woman has been injured following a pedestrian crash in Sydney's south west today.

About 6.20am (Wednesday 4 January 2023), emergency services were called to the intersection of Canley Vale Road and Sackville Street at Canley Vale, following reports of a crash involving a 4WD and pedestrians.

One pedestrian died at the scene; she is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in her 60s.

A second female pedestrian, also aged in her 60s, was treated at the scene and taken to hospital for treatment of suspected fractures.

Officers from Fairfield City Police Area Command established a crime scene, which is being examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.

The driver of the 4WD – a 52-year-old woman – was taken to Liverpool Hospital under police guard for mandatory testing.
