Perth-Japan Daily Flights Take Off

  • Daily services between Tokyo and Perth to take off in December
  • Additional direct flights to add over 19,000 inbound seats into WA
  • Part of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy to generate valuable tourism dollars for local business

Western Australia's status as Australia's Western Gateway has been bolstered by the announcement of an uplift to daily flights between Tokyo and Perth from December.

The All Nippon Airways (ANA) direct route will increase from three times weekly flights to daily services from 1 December 2025, delivering an estimated 19,200 additional inbound seats to WA.

The seasonal uplift by ANA will run until 19 April 2026 and will service the growing number of Japanese visitors travelling to Western Australia.

Supported by the Cook Government, through Tourism WA, ANA's direct Tokyo to Perth service initially resumed in October 2023 as a six-month seasonal route, before it returned in October 2024 and was uplifted to become a year-round fixture due to its success.

Japan is a priority international visitor market for WA, with 32,000 travellers from Japan spending a total of $127 million across the State in the year ending March 2025.

The route is one of 20 non-stop flights facilitating travel to WA from key global destinations, connecting the State with the world and boosting tourism, business and investment opportunities.

The additional daily flights are part of the Cook Government's economic diversification strategy to drive out-of-state visitation and generate valuable tourism dollars for local business and industry.

As stated by Premier Roger Cook:

"Japanrepresentsa major tourism market and critical trading partner for WA,with direct flights with All Nippon Airways already strengthening our relationship.

"My government is committed to diversifying our economy through tourism and securing daily direct flights will make it even easier for Japanese visitors to come and explore our beautiful State.

"I look forward to further promoting Western Australia in Japan as part of the Expo 2025 in Osaka next month."

As stated by Tourism Minister Reece Whitby:

"The uplift of direct flights between Tokyo and Perth is a fantastic outcome for WA's tourism industry, bringing thousands of inbound passengers to Perth.

"The expansion of this service reinforces the Cook Government's commitment to growing the aviation sector and deepening our long-standing partnership with All Nippon Airways.

"Perth is a growing global aviation hub, with the effect of these additional services set to benefit our State's tourism industry, as more visitors travel here and spend their tourism dollars across WA."
