Perth promoted as dream destination for business events

  • Dreamtime 2019 showcases Perth to more than 100 international conference and incentive buyers
  • Expected to generate millions of dollars of future business for the State
  • Presented by Tourism Australia in partnership with the Perth Convention Bureau
  • Perth will be showcased as a dream destination for international buyers at Dreamtime 2019 - an event to promote Australia to the tourism market specialising in meetings incentives, conferences and events.

Dreamtime 2019 is a Tourism Australia event presented in partnership with the Perth Convention Bureau and will be held over two days from today (December 2).

The event is the largest of its kind in the nation, attracting more than 100 international buyers from Japan, South Korea, Greater China, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, New Zealand and North America. Representatives from 16 international and domestic media outlets will also attend.

Dreamtime's buyers will have the chance to meet with sellers from Australian business event venues, products and experiences. Western Australian sellers represented at the event include Optus Stadium; walking tour operators, Two Feet & a Heartbeat; the Rottnest Island Authority and Captain Cook Cruises.

Buyers will also have an opportunity to experience the world-class attractions and unique experiences of Perth and surrounds, through escorted tours around the city, the Swan Valley and Rottnest Island.

Representatives from Japan and New Zealand will extend their WA stay to discover the world-renowned Margaret River region through activities including forest quad biking, premium wine tasting and an indigenous Didgeridoo Cave Tour at Ngilgi Cave.

Dreamtime 2019 is expected to generate millions of dollars' worth of future event business for the State, with Perth's host-city status giving it a competitive edge with buyers who will have experienced first-hand what is on offer to clients.

The event is the third international trade travel show hosted by Tourism Australia in Perth this year. In April, Perth hosted the Australian Tourism Exchange 2019, the nation's largest annual tourism travel trade event; and most recently Corroboree West 2019, an event for international frontline retail travel agents selling Australia as a preferred holiday destination.

As stated by Tourism Minister Paul Papalia:

"I'm delighted to welcome our international guests to Perth and look forward to them experiencing the incredible event facilities we have here including Optus Stadium and the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

"Our recent hotel openings also show-off the level of choice and quality our city can offer people staying here for business or pleasure.

"Combine these excellent facilities with our many natural attractions located close to the CBD and you have a very attractive proposition for these international buyers to bring their business to Perth.

"The direct flights we've recently secured to Japan and Shanghai are huge wins for our State and will make Perth an even more appealing option to the buyers we'll be hosting from those markets."
