Pest management plan adopted

A new plan to deal with declared pest species has been endorsed by Council.

The Cairns Biosecurity Plan 2019–2024 has been developed as a requirement under the Biosecurity Act 2014.

The plan prioritises actions to address invasive and pest species and identifies the roles and responsibilities of all stakeholders, including Council, state government and landowners.

It also sets out guidelines for monitoring and evaluating pest management activities across the region.

The five-year plan will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains up-to-date and meets any changes legislative requirements.
