The Nationals have launched a petition to stand up for women and girls and to protect women's spaces, sports, and shelters.
Nationals Leader Matt Canavan said The Federal Court's Giggle for Girls ruling proved Australia's laws aren't fit for purpose.
"The Sex Discrimination Act fails to protect women's spaces as Australians expect," Senator Canavan said.
"Nationals MP for Lyne Alison Penfold has a Bill to fix it: by restoring sex-based protections for women and girls, reinstating the legal definition of a woman and defining biological sex in the Act, to protect women's services, spaces and activities," Senator Canavan said.
"That's why The Nationals call on the Federal Parliament to support Alison Penfold's Bill and restore protections for women and girls in law.
"We will ensure that there is protection for services, activities and spaces exclusively for women. There are two biological sexes, male and female, and that is a real thing. It is just common sense for our laws to recognise that."
Ms Penfold said sex is a biological reality and our laws should reflect that reality.
"Sex is biological and binary. The very law established to protect women for this very reason should not be ambiguous," Ms Penfold said.
"The fact that we have ridiculous statements by the Sex Discrimination Commissioner this week that biological men cannot be discriminated against for being "potentially pregnant" shows that the law must be fixed.
"The Bill will also include explicit protections for female services, spaces and activities.
"Women must be able to say no to men in these spaces yet by law we can't. Parliament created the problem - so it's up to Parliament to fix it.
"I am proud to stand up for women by launching this Bill and now a petition."
