Pink & Blue Swim, Walk, Run Fundraiser Returns

PCFA

Every February. West Beach in Adelaide, South Australia, hosts one of the state's most-loved community fundraisers - the Pink & Blue Swim, Walk or Run, which raises awareness and vital fund for those affected by cancer.

Over the past 12 years, the event has raised more than $740,000 to support prostate cancer research, awareness, and support.

Organiser Paul Rafanelli said the heart of the event lies in its ability to connect people through a shared purpose.

"One of the most meaningful ways we give back as a lifesaving club is through our annual Pink & Blue Swim, Walk or Run," Mr Rafanelli said.

"It's about bringing people together and giving back in a meaningful way, while supporting causes that touch so many lives in our community."

The 2025 event was the biggest yet, attracting 1,500 participants and raising an impressive $105,210. From early-morning ocean swimmers to walkers, runners, volunteers and supporters lining the foreshore, the day was filled with colour, energy and optimism.

The event also delivered a full day of family-friendly activities. Highlights included live entertainment, inspiring guest speakers and performances by talented Immanuel College singers, creating a vibrant beachside atmosphere.

With support from West Beach Surf Life Saving Club, Surf Life Saving SA and the Metropolitan Fire Service, the event ran safely and smoothly, and even four-legged companions joined in the celebrations.

The Pink & Blue Swim, Walk or Run also remains inclusive and accessible, welcoming people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities.

"Whether you're swimming, walking, running, volunteering or simply cheering people on, everyone has a role to play," Mr Rafanelli said.

"That sense of belonging is what keeps people coming back year after year."

Looking ahead to 2026, organisers are building on the momentum, with plans to welcome more than 1,500 participants once again as the event edges closer to the remarkable milestone of $1 million raised.

"People can expect something very similar to last year, but it'll be better," Mr Rafanelli said.

"We've got a couple of surprises planned, and we can't wait to welcome everyone back to West Beach.

"With its strong community spirit, life-saving impact and unmistakable pink-and-blue energy, the WBSLSC Pink & Blue Swim, Walk or Run continues to show what's possible when people come together with a shared goal."
