Planned water interruption for Barrington and parts of Gloucester

MidCoast Council

Residents in Barrington and parts of Gloucester will experience an interruption to their water supply on Monday 6 September while MidCoast Council contractors undertake work related to the Gloucester Water Upgrade.

The interruption is expected to extend from 9am to 3pm and impact around 100 homes.

Council's Director of Infrastructure and Engineering Services, Rob Scott, said the work was an important part of the current upgrade to Gloucester's water supply network.

"We understand it can be an inconvenience any time there's a water outage, but this project is going to deliver a range of benefits to the residents of Gloucester and Barrington, so it's important we get it done," he said.

Properties in Barrington and the following parts of Gloucester will be without water throughout the day:

- Thunderbolts Way (north of Showground Road to Barrington)

- Ashworth Close

- Irrawang Road

- Craven Close

- Lemans Close

- Dangar Road

- Pigna Barney Lane

- Wright Close

- Neotsfield Avenue

- Showground Road

- 50 Bucketts Road

- Matcham Close

Mr Scott said the outage wouldn't impact Barrington Public School or Barrington General Store, as these locations would be provided with an alternate water supply.

Customers who experience any issues as a result of the interruption are urged to contact Council's Customer Service Team on 7955 7777.

The $21 million Gloucester Water Upgrade will ensure consistent water quality and pressure is supplied throughout the network and replace infrastructure that has deteriorated over time.

Work on the upgrade began in June, with the project expected to be completed by September 2022.
