Police appeal for information after man shot, another stabbed - Ermington

Police have appealed for public assistance after a man was shot, and another stabbed, in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 3pm (Friday 20 February 2021), police and emergency services were called to Betty Cuthbert Avenue, Ermington, following reports a man had been stabbed.

The 30-year-old man was found with a single stab wound to the abdomen and was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers attached to Cumberland Police Area Command immediately commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

About 6.30pm, investigators were informed the man's younger brother, a 28-year-old, had admitted himself to Westmead Hospital with a gunshot wound to his right thigh. The injury is considered non life threatening.

Investigators believe the two incidents are linked.
