Police appeal to locate teen missing from Lake Illawarra

Police are appealing for public assistance to locate a teenage girl missing from the Lake Illawarra area.

Kaitlyn Wearing, aged 13, was last seen at a home in Calderwood about 7pm on Sunday (21 August 2022) and has not contacted family since 4pm yesterday (Monday 22 August 2022).

When she failed to return home, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into her whereabouts.

Family and police hold concerns for Kaitlyn's welfare due to her age.

Kaitlyn is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 150-160cm tall, of medium build, with long brown hair and hazel eyes.

While it is not known what she was wearing at the time, Kaitlyn may have been wearing a black Parka jacket, blue denim jean shorts and black sneakers.

It's believed she may be in the Sydney area.

Kaitlyn is known to frequent the Calderwood, Albion Park, Wollongong and Sydney areas.
