Police are responding to fatal collision at North Geelong

A man has died following a two car collision in North Geelong on Saturday.

Investigators have been told a blue Mitsubishi sedan and a blue Volkswagen Golf collided head-on on Thompson Road about 3.35pm.

The male driver and only occupant of the Mitsubishi, a 88-year-old North Geelong man received life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital.

The female driver and only occupant of the Volkswagen, a 26-year-old Newtown woman received non-life threatening injuries and was conveyed to hospital.

The man's condition deteriorated and he died in hospital last night.

The woman is yet to be spoken to by police.

The cause of the investigation is yet to be determined and the investigation is ongoing.
