Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash - Katherine Region 21 February

The Northern Territory Police Force is investigating a fatal crash that occurred near Katherine yesterday morning.

Around 7:50am on Friday 20 February, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report of a single vehicle crash on Florina Road near Katherine.

It is alleged the vehicle left the road before colliding with a tree. Emergency services responded and the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, an 84-year-old man, was conveyed to hospital with serious injuries. He was subsequently conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital where he passed away earlier today, Saturday 21 February.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing with initial indications suggesting the man experienced a suspected medical episode prior to the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
