Police Are Responding To Fatal Crash - Tweed Heads

A man has died after a single-vehicle crash in the State's north.

About 2.25am today (Friday 29 May 2026), emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, Tweed Heads West, following reports of a truck crash.

Officers attached to Tweed/Byron Police District attended and found a truck had crashed into a barrier, trapping the male driver.

He was freed by Fire and Rescue NSW crews before being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for serious injuries and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.

The passenger - a man - died at the scene. He is yet to be formally identified.

A crime scene was established, and the Crash Investigation Unit have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
